On June 20, the Central Election Commission (CEC) approved the timetable of events for the Election to the State Duma of the VII convocation, as CEC announced on its website.

For Candidates

From June 18 to July 12, at party congress political parties shall nominate candidates on their federal party-list and candidates in single-member constituencies. Independent candidates may submit their self-nomination in the same time frame.

Documents to certify the federal party-lists and lists of candidates in single-member constituencies should be submitted to the Russia’s CEC not later than July 13. The candidates of political parties nominated in single-member constituencies shall submit the documents to the district election commissions by 23 July.

From July 4 to August 3, 18 pm (local time), the documents for registration of federal party-lists shall be submitted to the Russia’s CEC and the documents of candidates in single-member constituencies - to the district election commissions.

The media (TV, radio, periodicals, online media) coverage of election campaign is authorized from 20 August to the midnight of 17 September (local time).

For Voters

In order to be enrolled at the polling station assigned in respect to the residence location of a voter, he/ she must submit an application to the corresponding territorial election commission from July 19 to August 27, 2016.

The electoral rolls will be announced on September 7.

A voter may vote at the assigned polling station if he/she registers no later than 3 months before the Election Day (not later than June 17).

Absentee ballots will be issued in the territorial election commissions from 3 August to 6 September. From 7 to 17 September absentee ballots will be issued at district election commissions.

Finalizing the Election results

Vote count starts immediately after the polling stations are closed and continues uninterrupted until the voting results are finalized.

The election results should be established by territorial election commissions no later than September 20, election results in single-member constituencies and in multi-member constituencies, as well as in the single-member constituencies of territorial entities - not later than 22 September.

Under the federal law, the Russia’s CEC must announce the election results by October 3, 2016.
